This past weekend, the historic Helios Swimming Center dressed up for a very special occasion: the most important event on Spain’s national weightlifting calendar — the Spanish Absolute Championship.
An especially symbolic event this year, as it marks its 100th anniversary, establishing itself as one of the country’s greatest sporting institutions.

The sports center became the meeting point for the elite of Spanish weightlifting, with nearly 200 athletes taking part. Strength, technique, and determination were the key ingredients of a competition that, beyond its athletic significance, paid tribute to a century of Spanish sporting history.
Among the standout figures of the weekend was our very own Javier Gibert, group fitness instructor at MegaSport, who proudly represented our club in the championship. Javier competed in the +88 kg category, earning an impressive runner-up title at the national level. A result that reflects his dedication, perseverance, and deep passion for weightlifting.
